The Friends were set up in 1991 after the destruction caused by the Great Storm of 1987.
We are a registered charity helping to look after the Commons for the benefit of the community and wildlife. We hope you can help us continue the work.
As well as funding projects, we periodically arrange social gatherings. By becoming a member, you will receive regular newsletters full of up-to-date news and interesting information.
Please consider becoming a Friend of the Commons and help us look after this fabulous resource of green space in the heart of our town, it’s not a lot of money but every penny makes a difference.
What we do.
The funds we raise have financed many projects over the years. Such as major clearance, new paths, purchasing of tools and key pieces of equipment.
Some of our members help deliver our newsletters, join the committee, some take an active part in working parties. From litter-picking, clearance of invasive species, pond and rock clearance. Let us know if this would interest you.
